Meet Tribu

Memo | Founder of Tribu

Hello, my name is Guillermo and I am a human being in search of my tribe.

I was born 32 years ago in a city in Mexico. Like many young people, I grew up with the idea that life was a race of obstacles to overcome to be successful. I studied for my university degree, got a good job, and got married. But something was missing in my life.

The birth of my son was a turning point in my life. Suddenly, I realized that I didn't want to live a meaningless and purposeless life. I wanted to leave a legacy to my son, something that would inspire him to be the best version of himself.

I decided to change my lifestyle, I moved to this beautiful town called Malinalco. I incorporated yoga, meditation, and other spiritual practices into my life. I am learning to connect with my inner self and to live in the present moment.

The COVID-19 pandemic led me to reflect even more on the meaning of life. I realized that life is short and we must make the most of it.

During the pandemic and allowing everything to flow and nothing to influence, I founded Tribu Malinalco, a space for people to connect with their inner self and nature. Tribu Malinalco is a community where we propose a social experiment free of alcohol and smoke, here we promote permaculture and recover human traditions to strengthen the community.

My journey has been a journey full of ups and downs. I have made mistakes, but I have also learned a lot. I have learned that life is a gift and that we must live it to the fullest.

Nicole Garcia | Community and Events

Nicole was born & raised in Mexico by nationals, though in a very non-traditional way, as the oldest of 7 siblings raised in an international missionary community until she was 12 years old.

She loves learning & taking on a new challenge like starting out as the youngest ever accepted person in the AIAC Coaching academy at age 17. She felt called to focus on a different branch of Coaching & went on to complete her coaching studies at COTAN, the School of Thanatology & Life Coaching.

Today she is living many of her dreams come true; living beside beautiful Tribu, surrounded by greenery & raising her two beautiful boys with her wonderful partner aligned in the more conscious way that they strive to live in… caring for the earth & interacting more closely with all of its inhabitants. She loves serving through accompanying personal & group processes through Coaching sessions, teaching Thanatology & Emotional Intelligence workshops & facilitating in other people & organization’s development processes.

She is the “house mama” at Tribu & our “Social Connections & Networks” manager, always happy to know you’re planning a visit.

When she’s not “on call”, nursing a baby, or folding laundry, you’ll most likely find her happily dancing/humming or listening to an audiobook while cooking up something delicious for her loved ones.

Who are we?

Tribu Malinalco is a space for gathering and reconnection. It is a house where culture is alternative because we seek to rescue both modern discoveries and ancestral wisdom. Our goal is to care for the health of the earth and the beings that inhabit it in the best way possible.

We do this through our projects:

Implement permaculture in our spaces, inside and outside the house. To function in the long term as a demonstration center for different ecological practices and techniques: from the way we use resources to the way we process our waste.

We seek to care for community life by promoting activities that, as humans, connect us personally and interpersonally. Alternative therapies that care for health at the physical, mental, and emotional level, such as massages, acupuncture, meditation, yoga, hiking, temazcal, among others.

Being a Hostal allows us to achieve these objectives, with the inclusion of the travelers who pass through here in search of this deeper and more conscious connection.

Mission

We want everyone to know they're part of a big family called a community. We want to help everyone understand how they feel and make friends. Also, we want to teach everyone how to take care of our planet.

Vision

We hope for a world where everyone feels like they have friends and they belong. We want everyone to know how to listen, share, and care. And, we want everyone to know how to live without hurting our Earth.

Values

Friendship: When life feels like a roller coaster, friends help us feel better.

Listening Heart: We try to understand how our friends feel.

Sharing: We talk about our feelings and let others do the same.

Being There: We pay attention and enjoy the moment.

Taking Care of Earth: We learn to live in a way that keeps our planet happy.

Community: We make sure everyone knows they're part of our family here at Tribu.

Through life’s twists and turns, within community, I learn; with an open heart and conscious part, I live sustainably, playing my part.
